The Idea of Silence: all images were taken in Japan shortly after the 2011 tsunami. This tragical natural disaster severely crippled the infrastructure of the country. In addition to the thousands of destroyed homes, businesses, roads, and railways, the tsunami caused the meltdown of three nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This work is a reflection upon the poetic idea of the silence and calm after the storm and how or even if photography is able to portray a traumatic landscape without being exploitative. This work was published as a monograph by french publisher Editions Loco.
